These are not mobile operator numbers, but useful for reporting fraud or complaints that involve telecommunications providers:

5. WASPA (Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association)

  • Report SMS spam or scam messages: Use the online forms to report unsolicited commercial messages or unwanted billing (email/info via WASPA). WASPA

6. ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa)

  • Regulator for telecommunications complaints:
    You can escalate unresolved complaints to ICASA if your mobile operator does not resolve the issue.

7. SAPS / Cybercrime Reporting

  • If fraud involves criminal activity beyond the mobile operator (e.g., SIM-swap fraud, identity theft), you should also report it to law enforcement:

Practical Steps / Tips When Reporting Mobile Fraud

When you contact your mobile operator about fraud or a scam:

  1. Call the dedicated fraud line immediately to block your number or account if compromised.

  2. Get a reference or case number for tracking your report.

  3. Document the incident (screenshots, caller ID, timestamps).

  4. Report to law enforcement if the incident involves theft, SIM swap, bank fraud, or identity compromise.

  5. Escalate to ICASA if your complaint is not resolved within 14 working days by the operator.
